Based on Patricia Maclachlan's Newbery Award winning book, Sarah Plain and Tall tells the late 19th century story of a widowed Midwestern farmer, his children, and Sarah, the mail order bride, who brings joy-and singing-back into their lives. When Sarah arrives she is homesick, especially for the ocean. The children fear that she will not stay, but she explains that though she misses her home, "the truth of it is I would miss you more." The tale gently explores themes of abandonment, loss and love.
